Yoga Retreats

In the current course of events, the name and identity of yoga is not a matter of unknown territory to anyone. Even for those people who are not particularly involved in practicing yoga, they have a familiarity with its identity. In the historical times, although yoga was regarded as only a religious discipline that was started and practiced by exclusively religious saints and sadhus, the truth did not change that yoga was indeed quite well-known even in those times despite of it not being a popular practice in the masses of that historic era. As for the situation of the present, yoga has clearly succeeded in entrenching its status as one of the most fruitful and productive exercise routines all over the world. In other words, yoga holds an international degree of acceptance for even those who although do not practice it or are involved in it in any regard, yet they could not deny the importance it has when it comes to the maintenance of physical and mental health.

If it is to be considered from the most basic and fundamental perspective, the aim of taking up and practicing yoga is to attain the ultimate integration of the physical self and the psychological dimension of the personality. This eventually results in a further attainment of a high level of spirituality where the soul is simultaneously involved in the union of the physical and mental senses of a person. The spirituality that is attained during yoga, the basic essence of this level of spirituality has entirely to do with the idea of peace and tranquility, both in terms of the physical atmosphere (that consist of all the outside factors, which have the tendency to affect the physical peace in a positive sense or in a negative sense) as well as with respect to the functioning of the internal mechanics of the mind (all of the aspects that deal with the mind and have the ability to have an impact on the general state of peace of the mind). Therefore it is absolutely important for the yogi (a yogi is a person who is involved in the practice of yoga on a regular basis) to aim for this peace and calmness if he/ she has the goal of attaining this mighty degree of spirituality.

In the general context of yogis, it is considered that these people are only involved in meditation and yoga and are not like regular people who enjoy life and relish the various luxuries and bounties that life offers them. In contrast to this stereotypical mindset, yogis, who have a diverse population with regards to color, creed, religion, status, race and age, have a very healthy and refreshing approach towards life and they believe in living their lives to its fullest. Yet in the course of enjoying their lives, they never disregard the basic principle of maintaining a balance in everything they do, which also includes adopting a lifestyle, which promotes the idea of real physical and mental health along with sustaining that productive degree of physical and mental fitness. This goal along with the goal of achieving peace and tranquility in all regards is fulfilled by the concept of yoga retreats, which is an engaging and refreshing experience in itself for all those who practice yoga. The importance of a yoga retreat could not be denied and is huge when it comes to the maintenance of the integrated body, mind and spirit. In the recent decades, the overall acknowledgement, acceptance and application of yoga retreats has increased to such an extent that it has become a worldwide phenomenon especially in the West.

There are different types of yoga retreats, which are designed for people practicing various types of yoga. For instance, there are ashtanga yoga retreats, for those who practice ashtanga yoga. Then there are bikram yoga retreats, which are offered to those people who are involved in the practice of hot yoga (the second name for bikram yoga). Although every type of yoga has a different focus element, the concept of yoga retreats and the ultimate aim of it does not differ much, its ultimate essence being to achieve the goals of achieving peace and tranquility along with maintaining a healthy balance between enjoying life and adopting a healthy lifestyle. Few of the most popularly known yoga retreats are Nuturing Nest, Kalani Oceanside Retreats, Byron Bay Yoga retreats, Ojai yoga retreats, Amangini yoga retreats and many more to follow.

As mentioned above, despite of the diverse assortment of services and luxuries that each yoga retreat provides, its basic purpose remains the same.
