Healing Stones
Also known as charmstone, a healing stone could be defined as a mineral specimen, which is associated by some particular prehistoric, historic or contemporary people with the wonders of healing, mystical and/ or paranormal powers. This very concept has a strong presence and conviction in many of the cultures for more than centuries, for example the culture of cintamani. Healing stones could be both natural and artificial. The very mineral specimen could have a completely naturally occurring origin or whetted from a natural stone. However, as mentioned before, in some cases, the healing stone could be entirely manufactured. A very suitable example of this would be the Mayan pottery fields (the Maya were a powerful nation in history, who were of a Native American origin). With the diversity of cultures increasing in the West due to globalization, the culture of healing stones is gaining popularity in the West as well amongst several countercultures that exist in the Western society. However in accordance with the theories and concepts of science, healing stones are considered pointless and baseless. In other words, healing stone meanings are considered to be hollow and of no use according to the opinion of most scientists and medical professionals, who declare the culture of healing stones to have no logic or productive effects.

However despite of what the scientists and their theories say, the popularity of healing stones has only increased and amplified over the years. The people who believe in healing stones have kept this tradition going, although this culture has changed to a great extent too. In the past when healing stones were considered a means of soothing and getting rid of pain and agony, it was easily accessible and available to people. However in the modern age of commercialism, cheap healing stones have almost become a thing of the past. Instead healing stones, which are expensive, are in greater demand. For example, healing stones these days are made of some precious stones and are sold at highly exorbitant prices. Jade, having a reddish and brownish variety, Jade comes in all sorts of shades. Jade as a healing stone is considered to be mighty and powerful as it symbolizes health, wealth and longevity. It was a popular healing stone in Ancient China and was used for courage, wisdom, stamina, love and peace. It was also considered soothing in the physical dimension as well as it was thought of to be good for the heart, lungs, thymus, kidney and even blood detoxification and the nervous system.
One of the most popular healing stones are the crystal healing stones. Some crystal healers are of the belief that each living organism possesses a "vibrational energy system’ within itself, the essence of which has chakras, electromagnetic fields around the body and are more commonly known as auras, subtle bodies and meridians. Therefore healing crystals are considered to have the ability to ‘tune’ a certain energy system in the body or rebalance the energies, which in turn, contributes towards improving well-being due in relation to the vibration produced by the healing crystals and stones. It also enables the body to reach a level of soothing and relaxation, which helps in the body’s natural abilities that are the domain of the human immune system. Healing crystal stones were also known as Chinese healing stones and were an integral part of the Chinese traditional medicine. This was practiced in China about five thousand years ago.
As for the question of how to use healing stones, this very technique of using crystals and gemstones on the receiver's body for healing is known as lying on of stones. The laying on of stones is a very powerful and effective method of removing negative energy, demystifying and balancing the charkas as well as affecting emotional release, and bringing enlightenment of awareness and healing into all the aura bodies on which the healing stones are being applied.
